Committee Volunteer Form

The Tarrant County Bar Association has many areas where you can volunteer. If you would like to join or volunteer for a Committee, please complete the form below.

2019-2020 Committee Volunteer Form

- Will prepare a long-term strategic plan to guide the direction and future of the Bar Association and will also prepare short-term plans to direct specific areas, as appropriate.

- Plans and conducts an annual Bench Bar Conference for the TCBA attorney and judicial members.

- Plans and conducts CLE seminars on varying topics of interest to all members of TCBA, including the Brown Bag Seminar Series, as well as the Juvenile Law Seminar.

- Promotes active involvement and participation of minority attorneys in the profession and TCBA.

- Reviews and hears disputes between clients and attorneys regarding attorney fees. Also hears disputes between attorneys regarding fees.

- Oversees the LRIS Rules & Regulations; provides educational workshops for staff, and promotes the LRIS to TCBA membership and the public.

- Promotes membership in TCBA, solicits new members, and promotes benefits and services for the membership.

- Seeks experienced attorneys to mentor young lawyers in developing their practice of law and helps plan CLE programs to further educate them on the daily practice of law.

- Wellness is a necessary part of everybody’s law practice. Please join us to take a leadership role in the legal community by planning programs, initiatives, and communications that raise awareness about the benefits of wellness practices and resources. We seek to address concerns adversely impacting many of our colleagues – burnout, professional isolation, addiction, anxiety and depression. The committee intends to offer programs that focus on promoting wellness habits and techniques, as well as encouraging collaboration and support among the legal community.

- Assists in the selection of the recipients of the Outstanding Staff Awards and plans the reception honoring the court staff and the award recipients. Also plans and conducts the annual CLE seminar for Court Coordinators.

- Coordinates socials, including seeking sponsors and securing locations.

- Plans and coordinates the annual Holiday Party.

- Plans the annual awards dinner and coordinates with subcommittees of the various awards including the Blackstone, Professionalism and Silver Gavel Committees.

- Plans and coordinates an annual luncheon honoring women attorneys. Assists in soliciting sponsors.

The following committees are underwritten by the Tarrant County Bar Foundation. Volunteers are provided by TCBA members.

- Plans and coordinates the annual drive for the Tarrant Area Food Bank.

- Coordinates the collection of bears and other stuffed animals for National Adoption Day and the Family Courts.

- Plans and coordinates the annual blood drive.

- Presents programs on various areas of law to senior citizen groups as requested. Updates the Elder Law Handbook as needed.

- Seeks volunteers for the bi-monthly LegalLine, a free call-in public service, and solicits sponsors for refreshments for volunteers.

- Assists with planning the annual National Adoption Day (event usually held in November).

- Plans and coordinates an annual event to provide free information and education on the legal system to the public.

- Oversees the planning for the pro bono program's events, assists with the legal clinics, and recruits pro bono volunteers.

- Oversees the veteran pro bono program, assists with the legal clinic for veterans, and recruits pro bono volunteers.

Please put me on the list to receive information about volunteering at the following events or for the following programs:

- The Annual Blood Drive is held in the spring.
- LegalLine is held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month form 6 to 8pm. Volunteer attorneys answer legal questions by phone.
- People's Law School is held in the spring.
(includes general advice clinics, simple wills and estate planning, uncontested divorce)
(includes monthly legal clinics and the opportunity to take pro bono cases)
